Wide Leg, Long Leg

White, wide leg and high waisted pantsI have always been a fan of a wide leg. I mentioned earlier this week how it is a “trend” I am actually on board with. It reminds me of Katherine Hepburn. Who doesn’t want to look like Katherine Hepburn? Timeless, effortless, chic style that channels one of the most badass women of the 20th century.

I have found myself not wanting to climb into my skinny jeans over the past couple of weeks. I think it may have something to do with the sweltering heat. Skin tight anything during soaring temperatures adds about 10 degrees to your body temperature. Or at least that is the case for me.White wide leg and high waisted pants for summerDon’t misunderstand me, I am not chunking any of my skinnies. I may even crawl into them a time or two more during the summer, but they will not be my automatic go to. Anything with movement and air circulation is what I have been reaching for when I get dressed in the morning. So pretty much dresses, skirts, shorts, and wide leg pants.

I made these pants several years back. I wanted a versatile wide leg that would work with anything. What better neutral than a bright white for summer? It offsets anything you pair it with. I actually made these high waisted with space for a wide belt to add to the exaggerated effect of the pant.White, wide leg and high waisted pants for spring/summerFor todays styling though I just wanted something easy, breasy. No tucking or cinching required.

Typically, I would offset a full bottom with a fitted top or vice versa. That helps to balance the silhouette. However, this flowy top and wide pant works together. The top is airy enough to not take up a lot of visual space and the pattern just pops right off the pants. They end up balancing each other out. Add light jewelry, and you are good to go!

This color combo is even super close for 4th of July festivities! If you squint, does the pink look red?

Here’s to staying cool in the heat! And stay safe this weekend!
