Hi,
It’s been a long time, I shouldn’t have left you.
90’s music reference anyone? Anyone? That song may or may not have been my jam at one point in my life.
Anyway…
Life has been very full since we last chatted, hence my hiatus. That fullness has been a mix of a whole lot of things.
I am just going to hit the most major points to spare this entry becoming a novel…
1. David and I traveled to his home country of Mauritius for the first time together. It was absolutely lovely. It’s natural beauty was only outdone by the most amazing people that live there- Shout out to my in-laws! And the strangers who came to my aid to care for me when I fell out of a store and severely sprained my ankle. Yes. That really happened. I was in a boot for months.
2. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was awful. There are actually no words to describe this awfulness. It’s on my major list for obvious reasons, but also because of the spirit that is my mom (and my dad) for fighting this awful disease. I am happy to report that my mom is currently cancer free after many months of going through surgery and radiation. She is a fighter, a trooper, and my everyday inspiration.
3. And to wrap up this list- David and I bought our first home!
I want to refocus this blog to chronicle the last number on my list. For many years now my career has lead me into the field of home decor and design. I was desperately wanting to get my hands working on our own little home project, a fixer upper project to be exact (thanks Joanna Gaines). And we finally did it!
I have a year of projecting to catch you all up on and many more projects to come! I hope you all stick around for our journey. It’s been a rollercoaster to say the least!
It’s so good to see you back, Erin! (And that song is going to be stuck in my head alllll day, so thanks! Ha!)
I’m happy to hear your mom is well. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, too, and we’re very blessed that she’s cancer-free as well after surgery and treatment.
Congratulations on your new home, and I can’t wait to follow along with your 2018 adventures!!
Thanks, Keira! (And you’re welcome! If you are really looking to waste away a significant amount of time you may want to watch the video, which may or may not lead you down a 90’s music video binge. Or maybe that’s just me…)
I am so sorry that your family went through the same as ours this past year. I remember reading that your mother-in-law has also gone through this. It really is an emotional and physical battle. I hope that your mom (and mother-in-law) stays in good health and good spirits going forward!
And thanks for your enthusiasm! We are excited to share our progress so it’s exciting to know someone else is excited as well!!
