This past year I decided I needed to start dedicating more time to personal projects.
My table cover project that I shared with you last week was 1 of 2 I’ve done this year. Both projects have been for my apartment though. And while I do love this kind of work, my main love is clothing. I decided it was time to make an original piece for myself!
I’ve had several projects I’ve been wanting to start on, but one won out.
I finally sat down and sketched out my idea to share with you! Please no judging. Sketching was never my strength.
I got this fabric several years ago on a trip to Asheville, North Carolina. I instantly fell in love with it. I don’t usually like kitschy things, but this fabric just had something different. I left with 3 yards and no idea what I wanted to do with it.
I was fairly confident I wanted to make a dress. With a twirly skirt.
I love to design and make things with tailored details. Then combine it with touches of femininity, which is what I think I accomplished here.
A fitted bodice with neck pleating details and a skirt that gains its fullness from large pleats.
It will have pockets. I think that is becoming a must for dresses.
Let me know what you guys think, and I’ll keep y’all posted on the progress!
I’m nominating you for The Fashionista Awards!! For more info on your nomination, click here – http://thatchicfashionblog.wordpress.com/the-fashionista-award/ .. Keep it up : ) Love your blog and your DIY!
