Lace Overlay

I want to introduce to you one of my favorite projects that I have worked on recently (or ever).

mixing textures of lace and satin fabric for bathroom cafe curtains

These are a pair of cafe curtains I recently made for someone. After I finished them I wanted to make lace overlay everything: dresses, more panels, roman shades, dresses. That’s a good project, something that leaves you feeling inspired and wanting to create more.

I wish that I could take credit for the original concept of these beauties, but I can’t. These were completely the idea of my customer. She had leftover fabric from her daughters wedding and thought up this idea. I just gave my stamp of approval and made them a reality.

One of the many things I love about these cafe panels is the mixture of fabric. The lace is beautiful, but what makes these so interesting is that they are not lined with just a plain fabric. It is backed with a fabric that is a more saturated tone of the lace and the fabric has a different scale of floral print in it. It is a perfect mixture of floral prints and tone. It is so simple and understated and just added the right finishing touch to this bathroom.

Is everyone else wanting to cover their life in lace now?
