Today is the reveal of the house I have been working on and told you about a couple of weeks ago. Yay!

Let’s start in the living room. The homeowner has this beautiful wall of windows and a set of french doors. She wanted privacy, but didn’t want to add bulk to that wall, so she requested roman shades. The main fabric is a beautiful cotton sateen damask in rust. I decided to treat the doors and windows a little different to set them apart from one another, but used all of the same combination of fabrics and trims to show cohesiveness.

We changed up some of her existing pillows and added a few in leftover fabric we had from the different projects. FYI, when working on a big job like this, this is a great way to save a little on your pillows.

The gold print fabric is from the front door and is backed with the solid turquoise fabric which was used as an accent in the kitchen and living room. You get a little 2 for 1 pillow with this design. The striped fabric is from her dining room and the fabric ruffle is made out of the living room shade fabric. This brought in fabrics from the entire living space into one specific area.

 The kitchen treatment could be my favorite. Not sure why. It was a lot of fun to work on, but it also just has a little something extra. It’s just one door, but I think it has a lot of personality for one door.

Onto the next door, the front door. It too opens into the living room, but sits next door to the dining room. I wanted the fabrics to set the theme for the dining room, a little dressier, but still compliment what was happening in the living room. You may recognize some of the fabrics from the pillows. The valance is made of both the print and the stripe from the pillows.

Now to the living room and final room. The request for this room, was that it be fully dressed. The homeowner wanted shades, stationary panels, and valances.

We picked the fabric for the panels alongside the fabric for the living room. We knew these would be the two most dominant areas in the house and wanted them to compliment one another. The fabric we choose is heavier and dressier, but still has the same color base as her living room.

The valance is a combination of two fabrics and the design is based off of a picture she showed me and also trying to keep in theme with the rest of the house.

The shades are this beautiful silky stripe you have seen in the pillows and front door valance. You may notice they are a little different from the rest of the shades in that they are relaxed. I thought this would be a nice way to mimic the shape of the valances and also to be a little different from the rest of the house.

 

The goal for this house was to create an entire living space that felt warm and inviting. This was accomplished by picking fabrics that had a warm color palette that incorporated several colors in their design. You can see that the predominant color is rust, but there are also blues, greens, and golds in almost all of the fabrics. These additional colors acted like a breath of fresh air to break up what could have been an overwhelming color if used solely on its own.
